Undergraduate Research SIP and PA Work Study Program


PTEI will not be accepting applications for 2013 undergraduate summer internships.

As of December 1, 2005, the PTEI Undergraduate Research Summer Internship Program (SIP) has been approved by the Pennsylvania State Work-Study Program (SWSP).


ATTENTION PA RESIDENTS!


Pennsylvania residents who are applying to the PTEI undergraduate summer research program should also complete the Pennsylvania State Work Study Program (SWSP) application form and submit along with your application. Complete only Section A of the SWSP Application Form. Section B will be completed by PTEI.

Individuals who are residents of Pennsylvania and who attend a Pennsylvania institution of higher education may be eligible to participate. Student applicants from Pennsylvania are encouraged to determine their eligibility and submit through the PHEAA SWSP.

To apply through the PA SWSP Program, students should denote this on their application sent directly to PTEI, as well as submit on the PA SWSP website. Special consideration may be provided eligible SWSP applicants to participate in the PTEI undergraduate research program.

Students can search for the position and apply at PA SWSP or through their school’s PHEAA Work Study Office/Coordinator. The position is listed as "Research Assistant" through PTEI. We currently do not offer internships during the academic school year. Eligible SWSP participants will also need to follow the standard application procedure as defined by PTEI.


Am I Eligible to Apply for PHEAA State Work Study Program?


To be considered for SWSP, students must:
  • Be a Pennsylvania resident;
  • Be enrolled at least half-time (6 – 11 credits) in a postsecondary institution, in a program of study at least two (2) years in length;
  • Be a State Grant or subsidized federal loan recipient;
  • You do not have to be attending school or college in PA.

How Do I Apply for PHEAA State Work Study Program?


Complete Section A of the SWSP Application/Placement Form and submit to the attention of LaShon Jackson, Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative Programs Coordinator, 450 Technology Drive, Suite 211, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. You may also email or fax to Ms. Jackson’s attention at ljackson@ptei.org and/or 412-624-5575. Section B will be completed by the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative. PHEAA will review your Application/ Placement Form and notify you and the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Iniative of SWSP eligibility or ineligibility.
