When we don't take care of our body and our heart becomes weak our diseased, we can suffer a heart attack. A heart attack is an interruption of heart beats that will result in a lack of nutrients being sent to the other important parts of our body.
A heart attack is usually caused by a build up of plaque in the capillaries. This plaque is made up of protein, calcium and a fat called cholesterol. It not necessarily just diet that can cause plaque build up. But when it does, it can build up to the point where the plaque deposit bursts. Blood cells then get confused and try to heal the burst plaque deposit. When the blood cells rush together to the same spot, they block up the space in the capillary.
The image to the side illustrates the inside of a capillary where the clot (the white mass) has exploded and blood cells are rushing to the area and clogging the capillary.
When capillaries become blocked, blood can't get to heart cells to feed them oxygen and nutrients so the starved heart cells die.
