A Biomedical Engineering junior at The Catholic University of America, Justin worked with Drs. Thomas Walters and Chris Rathbone at the US Institute for Surgical Research. Their work focuses on bone regeneration and soft tissue research at the USAISR to address issues related to traumatic injuries and combat casualty care. Justin’s specific research focused on the comparison of human bone marrow-derived and adipose-derived stem cells and their resistance to oxidative stress.

Nikhil Tarte

Nikhil is a Biomedical Engineering junior at the University of Texas at Austin with a minor in Business. During the summer, Nikhil worked with Dr. David Devore within the Extremity Trauma and Regenerative Medicine group at the US Institute for Surgical Research. During the summer, his work focused on nanoparticle drug delivery for the treatment of biofilm infections for combat casualties and civilian trauma patients.
