Advancing regenerative medicine has been the goal of PTEI for more than a decade.

Since its inception, PTEI has provided research funding, sponsored innovative professional training and education programs for scientists, students and the public-at-large, and championed the field nationally and internationally, serving as advocate and educator to government leaders worldwide, congressional representatives and staff, and the spectrum of government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health.

PTEI is also a leading source of important information to continually spur the field toward new achievements.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, PTEI was incorporated in 1996 as the Pittsburgh Tissue Engineering Initiative.  Today, the name PTEI is internationally recognized and synonymous with successful initiatives and high-quality programming.

While the focus has expanded from tissue engineering to the broader field of regenerative medicine, PTEI’s commitment to collaboration and information sharing has remained constant.  PTEI recognizes that the best way to secure the success of the field of regenerative medicine is to promote the field as widely as possible.  Toward this end, PTEI sponsors acclaimed programs in research, education, and industry development, as well as the acclaimed annual Regenerate International Conference and Exposition.
